1 Why should I rent a vacation home instead of a hotel?
A : Three words freedom, quality and value! Hotel and motel culture is pretty much ingrained in our travel consciousness. Most folks don't even realise that there is an alternative when it comes to vacation or travel accommodation. However, those that have discovered the benefits of vacation homes are already living the high life, instead of vegetating in a small, cramped hotel room. Freedom: Instead of renting a room, you are renting a whole house including your very own private pool (and often a spa too). You can be who you want to be and do what you want to do in complete privacy. Vacation rentals are a true 'home from home' and offer all the comforts and convenience you would expect. Quality: Each of our stunning vacation homes have been individually styled, furnished and decorated by their owners. As a result, you will benefit from all the added luxury extras that most hotels don't even offer (free high speed internet access, computer systems, games consoles, games rooms, movie libraries etc.) And of course, since the owners themselves use their homes for their own vacations in Orlando, you can expect them to be extremely well maintained and regularly upgraded with lots of additional features. Value:
All our rental rates are per night, never per person. The price quoted
(plus tax) is for the rental of the entire vacation home. By comparison
to the cost of a motel, with their limited amenities, or a huge impersonal
'resort' hotel with massive overheads, we simply knock spots off the competition.
So whether it's just you and a buddy, or additional friends and family
renting one of our vacation homes, the nightly rental rate remains exactly
the same! As a result, we guarantee you'll be blown away by the value
for money we are offering. |
2 Why rent a vacation home from GayStayOrlando.com?
A : Simple we are the original and best! We deal exclusively with vacation homes for the GLBT community. All our homes are owned by gay and gay friendly owners. All our homes have been specifically chosen because of their high quality and exceptional standards. Each owner must go through a verification process before they are allowed to advertise with us and this ongoing verification (carried out every 6 months) ensures that you are dealing with a legitimate and fully licensed vacation home owner.
3 How does GayStayOrlando.com work?
A: It's as simple as a simple thing! Take time to browse through our fantastic hand picked selection of vacation rentals and, once you find the home of your dreams, simply complete the no obligation inquiry form at the bottom of the advertisement and click 'submit'. Your inquiry will be sent directly to the owner of the home you have chosen, who will contact you by return with their current availability and a no obligation quotation. From here on in, should you wish to proceed with the booking, you will deal direct with the owner, who will always be available to help and guide you through the booking process and answer any additional questions you may have.
4 What payments will be required?
A : Initially all that is required to confirm your booking and lock in your chosen dates, is a non refundable Booking Deposit. These vary by owner, but are usually charged per week or part thereof that you wish to book. The balance of your account (plus security deposit/bond and any additional extras you may choose e.g. pool heating, BBQ rental, etc) becomes due 8 ~ 12 weeks prior to your arrival at your chosen vacation home. (Varies by owner)
5 Do your owners charge a security deposit/bond?
A : Yes. Our owners either charge a refundable security deposit/bond, due at the time of your final balance payment (varies by owner) or alternatively take a credit card swipe and authorisation, to cover the cost of any damage, loss or additional cleaning as a result of your occupancy. The bottom line here is if you treat the property and it's contents with care and consideration, (as you would expect from any guest in your own home) you will not incur any additional charges.
6 Why do your owners charge a security deposit/bond?
A : Security deposits/bonds, or credit card authorisations, are taken by all legitimate and fully licensed vacation home owners. Be very wary of those that do not. This is not the norm and should set alarm bells ringing. If you find a home that does not do this, ask yourself why. Generally speaking, the reason is that the property itself and it's contents will be worn and dated, and as such do not have the same value of money tied up in them that top of the range vacation homes such as ours would have. In layman's terms, if an owner's house and contents don't contain anything of particular value, what is the point of these owners charging a security deposit to protect their tired property or it's run down and worn contents? Clearly renting a vacation home from an owner you have never met is a matter of trust. But this same concern applies to the home owner too, who are in effect entrusting you with their beautiful homes, which are worth many hundreds of thousands of dollars. Add to this the value all the upgraded items and electronic equipment installed for your pleasure and convenience, and hopefully you will appreciate that the home owner has a great deal more at stake than the renter, in terms of overall risk. The security deposit/bond or credit card authorisation, whilst not equalising this element of risk, is intended to gently focus the mind of the renter, in order that they treat the property and it's contents with due care and respect.
7 What methods of payment do you accept?
A : This will vary by owner. Some home owners are able to accept credit or debit card payments via their management companies, whereas others are not. However, most owners will accept a wire transfer into their bank account or payment by personal cheque/check or bank draft.
8 How far ahead do I need to book?
A: The simple answer is as far ahead as possible. Our vacation homes are incredibly popular and book up fast. Most owners will accept bookings up to two years in advance! However, that having been said, it is always worth inquiring at any time of the year and even for last minute bookings, since unforeseen cancellations and odd gaps in owners' calendars may allow them to accommodate you. In particular however, if you are planning to attend Orlando at a time when a major gay event is in town, or during national holidays, you are advised to book as early as possible.
9 Are your vacation homes State approved?
A: Yes! All our vacation homes have undergone health and safety checks by government officials and are fully licensed by the State of Florida as short term rental properties.
10 Are your vacation homes self catering?
A : Yes! All our homes are self catering in order to offer you the freedom to do what you like, when you like.
